Our founder and Lead Clinician, Joanne Ransom, has over 20 years experience as a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist and has worked in the area of significant communication difficulties since 1994.  

Joanne Ransom (a.k.a. Joanne Taylor) is a certified practising Speech and Language Pathologist and founder of The Speech Wave.

 

Joanne completed her MSc in Language Pathology and Speech-Language Pathology licence in the UK in 2000. Joanne has lived and worked as an adult and paediatric Speech-Language Pathologist in the UK, USA and now Australia, gaining invaluable international clinical knowledge and experience.

Joanne has also previously held a Clinical Rehabilitation Certification from the Californian Commission of Teacher Credentialling and a Californian State Licence in Speech and Language Pathology from the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California.

 

Joanne Ransom has worked as a licensed SLP since 2000 with children and adults across a variety of settings within Health (Community Clinics, inpatient and outpatient hospital care, Nursing Homes) and Education (public schools, private special education schools), gaining valuable generalist SLP skills.


Joanne also has specialist knowledge and interest in working with children and adults who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, having worked in special schools for The Deaf (that follow Aural/Oral approach and Manual communication approach: British Sign Language, American Sign Language), special DHH/PMLD class programmes, public school itinerant/consultancy delivery and adult outpatient clinics. Joanne also previously worked for SENSE: The National Deaf Blind Association and iis currently learning AUSLAN.Joanne is also Hanen trained to deliver parent-child interaction therapy for early intervention and has customised an infantile swallow correction programme.
